ABOUT PBI

A Wisconsin family shop. Three decades of repeat parts.

Founded in 1992 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. In Plymouth since 2000. Still family-run.

Stainless turned studs, one production lot.

Perma-Brass, Inc. was founded in 1992 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, by the Puls family, who still run it today. We started out supplying the plumbing industry with high-quality machined and plated castings.

As we grew, we brought the processes we had built on castings to new markets and industries. In 2000 we moved to Plymouth and increased our capacity and expertise by acquiring Taurus Tool & Machine, Inc., an independent production machine shop.

In 2007, Perma-Brass and Taurus Tool & Machine, Inc. earned ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100:2004 Rev B certification for machined components for multiple industries, including defense and aerospace. We have kept them current ever since. Today we are ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100:2016 Rev D Aerospace certified.

Now we run production and repeat parts for aerospace, defense and other demanding industries. We make difficult parts routine.

MEET THE TEAM

The people behind every part.

A family-led team with deep roots in engineering, production machining and Swiss-style turning.

Andy Puls, President & Manufacturing Engineer

Andy Puls

PRESIDENT & MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Andy started at Perma-Brass at age 12 and has more than two decades of hands-on experience, including time at four other production machining companies before taking the lead here. He studied psychology and engineering at UW–Madison. He's the one people call when a part seems impossible. He programs multi-axis and Swiss-style machines, designs the fixtures and processes that make tough parts repeatable, and can troubleshoot a machine or a process faster than anyone in the shop. He also brings deep experience in automation. Off the clock, he's an avid fisherman, from fly fishing to big trophy fishing.

Judy Puls, VP, General Manager & Controller

Judy Puls

VP, GENERAL MANAGER & CONTROLLER

Judy joined Perma-Brass in 1995 and runs the business side of the company. She holds a B.S. in finance and marketing from UW–Madison and an M.S. in accounting from UW–Milwaukee. An accountant by training, she spent years at Kohler Co., first as Credit Manager and then as Marketing Manager, and brought that corporate discipline to PBI. Today she oversees finance and accounting, production scheduling, human resources, purchasing, marketing and customer relations, so customers have one person who keeps their orders on track. After three decades on the shop floor, she also knows the parts and processes PBI runs, which helps her connect what customers need with what the shop delivers. She loves spreadsheets almost as much as she loves her family. For many years she ran a short-term rental on a beautiful Wisconsin lake, and she is a past president of St. Paul’s Church in Sheboygan Falls.
